Ask for an AI change
Get something the editor can't do, like a new kind of section, made by AI. Answer a few questions, see the price first, look at a preview, get small fixes included, and pay only if you publish it. When AI can't, have a person do it.
The editor lets you change any words, photos, pages, lists and colors yourself, for free. When you want something it can't do, like a new kind of section made for your business, ask for an AI change. Each change is a short conversation: you say what you want, AI asks what it needs to know, you see the price, look at a preview, ask for tweaks, and decide whether it goes on your site.
Ask for a change
- In your site's editor, click AI changes in the left menu, then New change. If you haven't asked for one before, the form opens by itself.
- Under Where on your site, pick the page. To change one section, pick it in the second list, or leave it as The whole page. You can also leave the page as Anywhere, or I'll say.
- Under What should change, describe the change: what it should say or show.
- Click Ask. The answer takes about a minute.
Asking is free. Nothing on your site changes until you approve it. Your changes are listed under AI changes, newest first, each with where it's at, like Waiting for you or Ready to look at. Click one to see its conversation, and All changes to go back. Your credit balance shows at the top, with a link to Add credits.
Ask from the page you're editing
You don't have to explain where something is. While you're editing a page:
- To change one section, click it to open it, then click Ask AI to change this at the bottom.
- To change the whole page, click Ask AI to change this page at the top.
AI changes opens a new change with that page or section already picked, and the preview shows it. Then just say what should change, like "show these as cards with a photo on top".
AI works from your live site, so a page or section you've added but not published yet can't be picked. Publish first, then ask.
Add pictures
Under Pictures, click Add a picture (then Add another) to attach up to four. To take one off, click the × on it. They help in two ways:
- To show what you mean. A screenshot of a website you like, a photo of a printed menu, or a quick sketch of a layout. AI matches the idea in your site's own colors and fonts. It never copies another website's words, logos or photos.
- To put on your site. Your own photos, like your team or your latest project.
Say what each picture is for, like "use the first photo" or "make it look like the second picture". Pictures you add are also saved to your photos, so you can use them anywhere on your site.
Answer a few questions
When AI needs to know more before it can price the change well, it asks up to three questions first, like which plans to compare or whether you have photos of your work. Answer under each one:
- Pick an answer, or type your own under Or say something else.
- Type a few words or sentences. A few points are enough.
- Add pictures, when it asks for photos.
Then click Send answers. Answer what you can: anything you leave out gets an example for you to replace later. To skip them all, click Skip, just give me a price. AI asks at most twice, then works out the price with what it has.
Read the price
When the price is ready, you see:
- What will change, in plain words.
- Examples for you to replace, if the change needs words or photos you didn't give (see below).
- The price and the change's size, like "$3 · Small change, small fixes included". That's what the change costs, and small fixes after you see it are included (see Ask for a tweak). AI changes start at $3. Bigger changes (Medium, Large or Extra large) can cost more.
A price can be approved for 7 days. After that, ask for the change again.
Sometimes the answer is that you can do it yourself in a minute, with the steps. Or that it isn't something AI changes can do, like a calculator or a button in your header. Then you can have a person do it instead (see Have a person do it).
Examples marked "Replace me"
So the preview looks like the finished thing, AI fills what's missing with examples: free stock photos or drawings, and words written from what's already on your site. In the preview, each one is marked Replace me.
Facts are never examples. AI never makes up prices, hours, phone numbers, names or reviews; where you didn't give one, it's left blank.
Your live site leaves examples out until you replace them, so a visitor never sees one. After publishing, find them in the editor: each field with an example is marked Example: replace me, and changing it replaces the example. When you publish your site, the checks list how many examples are left on each page.
Approve it
Click Approve and the price, like Approve, $3. The price is set aside from your credits and paid when you publish, and AI starts making the change. It usually takes 5 to 15 minutes. You can leave the page; we email you when it's ready. Not interested? Click Discard.
If you don't have enough credits, click Add credits to approve. Your dashboard opens in a new tab; add credits there, then come back and approve.
Look at the preview
When the change is ready, you see what AI says it did and which parts of your site it changed, and the preview opens beside the conversation at the page it changed.
The preview is a test copy of your site with the change built in, at its own address. Your real site isn't changed yet. The editor's own preview can't show the change until you publish, because the change adds new design code that the editor doesn't have yet.
- Click Show the preview to see it again, and Back to my draft to go back to your editor's preview. On a phone, Show the preview switches to it; tap Edit to come back.
- Switch between desktop, tablet and phone sizes at the top of the preview.
- Click Open in a new tab to look at it full size.
Ask for a tweak
If something isn't quite right, like a heading that should be centered or photos that should be bigger, say so under Want something different? and click Send.
AI makes the tweak on top of the change, and the preview updates when it's done, usually in 5 to 15 minutes.
- A fix is included in the price. A fix makes what you asked for come out right: moving, resizing or rewording it, a different layout, other colors from your theme, or putting your own words and photos in place of examples. It starts right away and costs nothing more.
- Something new has its own price. If the tweak adds something your first request didn't ask for, like another section or more content, you see its price first. Click Make the tweak (it shows the extra price, like Make the tweak, $3 more) to approve it, or Never mind. A change that has already had a lot of fixes may also price the next one. If an included fix can't start by itself, click Make the fix; it costs nothing more.
- Something that's really a new change, like another page, is one to ask for separately once this one is published or discarded.
If a tweak doesn't work, the preview stays as it was, and you aren't charged for the tweak. A change can have up to five tweaks.
Publish or discard
- If you like it, click Publish. It goes live in about two minutes, and the price is taken from your credits: the change's price, plus any tweaks you approved with their own price.
- If you don't, click Discard. You aren't charged.
If it doesn't work out (AI couldn't finish, or the result didn't pass our checks), you aren't charged either.
After publishing, reload the editor. A new section works like any other: change its words and photos in the page editor, and replace any examples.
Have a person do it
When AI can't make a change but a person on our team can, the change says A person on our team can do this, with what we'd do and the price. It's $25, $50, $75 or $100, depending on how hard it is.
- Click Have us do it (it shows the price, like Have us do it, $25). The price is set aside from your credits, and a person starts on it within 2 business days. You aren't charged yet. Not enough credits? Click Add credits to ask first.
- If we have a question, the change says Question for you and we email you. Reply to the email to answer it.
- When it's done, we email you what we did, and the change says Ready to look at. Click Take a look to see it in a new tab, then:
- It's right, pay $25 (or Put it on my site, pay $25, when what you're looking at is a preview): the price is taken from your credits. A preview goes on your site first, and you're charged once it's there.
- Ask for changes: type what's not right under What should we change? and click Send to us. One round of changes is included. After that, reply to our email; if we got it wrong, fixing it is free.
- If you don't answer within 7 days, we count it as done, and a preview goes on your site.
Changed your mind? Click Cancel request until we start on it. If we can't take it on, you get your credits back.
Some things a site like yours can't do, or that need an add-on, like live booking times. Then the change says why, and which add-on covers it, if one does. Click Dismiss to clear it. To turn down an offer from a person, click No thanks.
Ask us for a price on a bigger job
For a bigger job, the change says Ask us for a price instead of showing one.
- Click Ask us for a price. Nothing is held or charged yet.
- Within 2 business days, we email you a price, and the change says Waiting for you.
- Click Approve and the price, like Approve $150. The price is set aside from your credits, and the job then works like the steps above.
To say no, click Cancel request.
Follow your work requests in the dashboard
Every request a person is doing is listed in your dashboard under Work requests, with its date, site, price and where it's at, like Quote ready or In progress.
To approve a price or look at the result, click Review quote or Open. The request opens in your site's editor, under AI changes.
When we build it for every site
Sometimes what you asked for would help every site, like a new kind of section. Then we build it as a new feature for everyone, and it reaches your site with an update. The change says so while we work on it, and when it's on your site we email you to take a look, the same as above. Everyone who asked for it gets $10 in credits as thanks, including people who only asked for an AI change. It shows in your editor under What's new.
Tips for a good result
- Be specific. "Add a section to the Services page comparing our three lawn plans: Basic $40, Business $60, Premium $85, with what each includes" works better than "make the services page better".
- A picture is worth a paragraph. If you've seen a layout you like, add a screenshot of it.
- Give the facts. AI never makes up prices, hours, phone numbers or reviews. It uses what you write and what's already on your site.
- Answer the questions. The more AI knows about your business, the less you have to replace afterward.
- One change at a time. Smaller changes cost less and are easier to check. Use tweaks for small fixes to the same change.
- Edits you were making stay yours. If you have unpublished edits, the change is added to them when you publish it.
AI changes are for the account's owners and developers. Editors don't see New change. See Your team and who has access.
Still stuck?
Try it on the live demo first; nothing you do there is saved. If you’d rather have a person do it, ask for a work request from your dashboard. You’ll get a quote before any work starts.
