Add a newsletter signup
Collect email addresses for your own email list, or for your Mailchimp, Kit or Constant Contact list, with a simple signup form.
The Newsletter signup section shows a heading, a short intro, an email box and a button. Signups can go to your own email list in the editor, or straight to an email service you already use.
Collect signups on your own list
Set Email service to This site (it's the choice new sections start with). There's nothing else to set up.
When someone signs up, we email them a link to confirm, from your business's name. They join your list when they tap it, so mistyped addresses and signups made in someone else's name never reach it. Signups on your Spanish pages get the email in Spanish. You'll find everyone in Email list in the editor: see Your email list. From there you can download the list, send it to Mailchimp, or send a newsletter.
Use Mailchimp, Kit or Constant Contact instead
If you already send emails with one of these services, signups can go straight to its list instead. A new tab opens with your email service's confirmation page. You don't need any code or API key, just one address copied from your email service.
What you need first
- An account with Mailchimp, Kit or Constant Contact, with a list (or audience) to collect signups.
- Your list's signup form address. This is the address your email service's own signup form sends to. The steps below show where to find it.
Find your signup form address
Every email service offers "embed code" for a signup form. You only need the address in it that comes right after action=", up to the next quote mark. If that's hard to pick out, paste the whole code: the editor finds the address in it.
Mailchimp
- In Mailchimp, open Audience, then Signup forms, and choose Embedded form. If you're offered more than one kind, choose the classic HTML embed code.
- In the code, find
<form action=". - Copy the address after it, up to the closing quote. It looks like
https://yourname.us21.list-manage.com/subscribe/post?u=…&id=…. Leave the&as it is; your site fixes it for you.
Kit
- In Kit, open your forms and choose the form you want to use.
- Click Publish, then choose to embed it as HTML.
- In the code, find
<form action="and copy the address after it. It looks likehttps://app.kit.com/forms/1234567/subscriptions.
Constant Contact
- In Constant Contact, open your sign-up forms and choose an embedded form.
- Look in its code for
action=".
Constant Contact's current sign-up forms often use a script with no action address. If you can't find one, create a sign-up landing page in Constant Contact instead. Then add a Call to action section and point its Main button at that page's link. Choose Another website… under Goes to and paste the link there.
Add the section
- From Integrations: click Integrations in the sidebar. On the Newsletter signup card, click Add to a page. Choose the page under Which page? and click Add and edit.
- From a page: open Pages, choose a page, and on the Content tab click Add a section. Pick Newsletter signup.
The section is added near the bottom of the page. Use the up and down arrows to move it.
Fill in the fields
- Heading and Intro: tell people what they'll get and how often. For example, "Four short emails a year."
- Email service: choose This site for your own email list, or Mailchimp, Kit or Constant Contact. This matters. Each service expects the email address in a slightly different way. For any other service, choose Other; it works when that service's form names its email box
email. - Signup form address (not for This site): paste the address you copied.
- Button text: for example, "Sign up" or "Send me tips."
- Small print: a short line under the form, like "Unsubscribe any time."
Check it in the preview
The preview shows your form as visitors will see it. The form doesn't send anything from the preview, so test it on your live site after you publish.
Publish
Click Publish at the top right. Your changes go live in about a minute. Then click View live site, sign up with your own email address, and check that it appears in your list. With This site, tap the link in the email we send you, then look in Email list. Some services first ask you to confirm by email or prove you're not a robot. That's normal.
Troubleshooting
Publish is blocked with "Signups aren't connected yet." The Signup form address is empty. Paste your address, or choose This site to collect signups on your own list. (On the live site, a form without one tells visitors "Signups aren't connected yet. Please try again later.")
Publish is blocked with "The signup form address isn't a web address." You copied part of the code, or a different line. Copy the address after action=" again, starting with https://, or paste the whole embed code.
Mailchimp shows an error, or signups never arrive. Check that you copied the whole address, from https:// to the end of the quote, or paste the whole embed code instead.
The email service says the email address is missing. Email service is set to the wrong service. Choose the one your address comes from.
I pasted the link to my form's web page. A link to a hosted form page, or a share link, isn't the same as the signup form address. Use the address from the embed code.
What it costs
The Newsletter signup section and your email list are included in your plan. Sending newsletters from the editor comes with the Business plan or the Newsletter sending add-on ($4 a month). If you use another email service, it charges its own plan prices, and some have free plans for small lists. We add nothing on top.

Still stuck?
Try it on the live demo first; nothing you do there is saved. If you’d rather have a person do it, ask for a work request from your dashboard. You’ll get a quote before any work starts.
